HE MEANS WELL

EVASION-ENGLISH

A co-worker mentioned a book from her youth, Metaphysical Stories for Children, and I was off and running. By the time I found a copy, it was underwhelming. I prefer the version my imagination cooked up in the time it took for the book to arrive.

Reminded me of a publishing imprint that was promised from [REDACTED] Press: Red Rattle Books. Great name, wish I’d come up with it. Subversion books for kids. The imprint didn’t happen, but while it was a possibility, I submitted a manuscript for a children’s workbook about feelings and cliches thereof. Here’s one page about the cliche “he means well!” which of course reminds me of “Don’t do that! Don’t interpret!” from the movie In the Spirit (1990).
